Water and Hydration

Water and Hydration

Hydrating the body is a key component to your overall health and wellness. Not all water is created equal, and you may require different types of water for different purposes.

Distilled Water- Distilling your water extracts heavy metals and other toxins from your water. It is excellent for pulling metals and minerals that are harmful to the body and the kidneys from the body. However, it is important to remember that distilled water can also draw out helpful minerals such as magnesium from the body. So if you are going to drink distilled water you should consider a mineral supplement as well.

Hydrogenated Water - Hydrogen water is regular water with hydrogen gas added to the water. According to some resources, adding hydrogen gas to the water increases its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It’s been touted for its ability to increase energy, slow down the aging process, and improve muscle recovery after a workout.

Alkaline Water - Alkaline water has a higher pH level than that of plain tap water. So proponents say that it can neutralize acid in your bloodstream. Some say that alkaline water can help prevent diseases, such as cancer and heart disease. Alkalizing your water can be as simple as adding a slice of lemon to your water too!

These are just a few examples of different types of water you may want to consider in your wellness plan. Remember, the average human body needs 1 oz of water per pound of lean body mass per day. Regardless of which water source is right for you, be sure to drink enough water to stay hydrated!!
